Kompetanseheving i Skedsmoskolene 15/16
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Municipality of Skedsmo (Norway) has the goal that children and young adults should have the competances needed for the challenges of the future. The learning environments of the schools need to improve, and ICT and key competances are central focus areas. The project goal is to enhance the knowledge of school staff and thereby contribute to a better learning environemt for the pupils. The Municipality of Skedsmo has chosen three schools to participate in the project: Skjetten, Sten-Tærud and Volla schools. The schools will be given the opportunity to send teachers and Head Masters to the BETT conference in London and the annual ASE conference in Birmingham, and school visits in conjunction with the conferences. BETT is an ICT conference and the annual ASE conference focuses on the teaching of sciences. These are acclaimed conferences that target the focus areas of Skedsmo Municipality. The schools will designate teachers who will participate in the conferences, and the teachers will need to commit themselves to useing their new competance in their own teaching. The schools will share their new competence with other schools in the municipality through Head Masters meetings and teacher expert groups. With this project, the Municipality of Skedmso will give teachers enhanced knowledge and new impulses in designated focus areas. This will in short term enhance the teaching in the schools, and in long term strengthen the pupils in meeting the challenges of the future. This is one of the first international project of the education sector in the Municipality of Skedsmo. We believe that the municipality has a lot to learn from good teaching practices in other countries, and this is the first project in a larger international commitment from Skedsmo. During this project we will be focus on knowledge sharing for all the schools in the municipality, and through this work, we hope to create more interest for European cooperation projects among the schools in the municipality.
