Start date: Oct 31, 2009, End date: Oct 30, 2010 PROJECT  FINISHED

The shortage of qualified specialists and nurses in many areas of health care in Hungary overloads the provision of medical services and hampers effective medical treatment. The regional hospital in Miskolc is seeking to overcome this problem by developing joint training programmes with other medical institutions. One aspect of this strategy is the development of cross-border training projects designed to reflect the hospital´s needs and reduce the gap between supply and demand. The training period in Slovakia is more flexible than in Hungary and this will speed up the process of filling empty positions in the Miskolc County Hospital and later on in other hospitals of the North-Region of Hungary. The project will utilise the opportunities deriving from the two regions geographical and cultural proximity and the resultant synergy.Kosice University will provide the needed specialist medical training programmes in the fields of vascular surgery, radiology, neuro-surgery etc. in which there is a shortage of doctors at BAZ County Hospital. The project will involve an analysis of medical training (theoretical, and practical) currently available in Hungary and Slovakia, comparing this to the hospital´s needs and developing a joint training programme. The project also include the preparation for the accreditation or adaptation, and launching the new training programmes. Prepairing joint training courses for the anaesthesiology- intensive therapy nurse is also part of the project.
