Kino Otok – Isola Cinema 2015 is a group project of European Voluntary Service (EVS), which will take place in the framework of the 11th Kino Otok – Isola Cinema International Film Festival in Izola, a picturesque seaside town in Slovenia. Fifteen volunteers between 18 and 30 years old from three European countries, Austria, Croatia and Italy, will be joined for five weeks in the most filmic town at the Slovenian seaside by Otok Institute as the main producer of the festival and host organization with the main purpose of non-formal education and training under the expert mentorship of the festival team. Besides the unforgettable learning experience in the framework of dynamic and stimulative international environment the project will enable connection of youngsters from different countries in the region with the aim of fostering intercultural dialogue, cooperation and solidarity amongst youth. The main topics of the project are creativity and culture, intercultural education and international development cooperation. EVS volunteers will be actively involved in the organization and execution of the film and accompanying program in the company of more than one hundred members of the festival's international team, learning and working in the following fields: organization and production of cultural and education programs, youth work in an international environment, marketing and public relations, fundraising etc. Experienced mentors and coordinators will ensure an appropriate group dynamics and a smooth process of non-formal learning and training. In addition to volunteer work, we will provide quality leisure-time activities – the youngsters will be able to watch films, take part in Q&As, workshops, socialize with other youngsters with similar interests, take part in outdoor activities (football game between festival team and guests, swimming, concerts, etc.). Youngsters will be able to examine their professional interests and gain practical knowledge as key equipment for successful professional career as employees or self-employees. Acquired experience, which they will be able to prove with Youthpass, will serve them in their primary environments and organizations and give them possibility to learn others. Highly challenging international environment, created by Institute's programs, will give the young participant numerous opportunities for creativity, development of competences and active networking in Slovenia and internationally – all will serve them as jumping-off point for future work in their home countries as well as abroad.
