Kids and volunteers together - for Europe and for peace!
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Two volunteers from Germany have completed a voluntary service for 12 months in the children's home "House on the Green Hill" in the village of Kisielany, near the small city of Siedlce. The volunteers worked there and lived in the nearby city of Siedlce, only one hour away from the capital city of Poland, Warsaw by train. The two volunteers accompanied and took care of the 20 children and teenagers between 8 and 18 years old. They were essentially responsible for the leisure activities of the children and teenagers, such as sports, music, handicraft work or some outing in the region. Besides, they were also helping the children and teenagers with their homework. The children and teenagers living at the “House on the Green Hill” come from families where the parents are not able to ensure the education anymore and/or have been withdrawn the parental care of their children. The children and teenagers live in three different groups that have a family-similar structure and are taken care of by eight staff members with a pedagogical education round the clock. The two German volunteers worked on the afternoon, when the children came back from school. The German volunteers lived in a shared apartment in Siedlce, where they had varied possibilities to organize their free time.
