KEY – Knowledge Exchange about Youth Participation
Start date: May 9, 2016, End date: Sep 8, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project K E Y - Knowledge Exchange about Youth Participation is focused on the exchange of knowledge, experience, and know-how in the field of non-formal and informal civic education of the youth. Bringing together experienced professionals and young professionals from non-governmental organisations based in the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovakia, it will lead to evaluation and improvement of methods used in youth work, acquisition of news skills, professionalization of their work, and strengthening of cross-border cooperation. Ultimately, the aim of the project is to contribute to increased European awareness, active civic engagement, and participation of young people through simulation of democratic decision making.12 participants - 4 from each of the organisations - will take part in the project. The participants will be selected according to their activity and engagement with each of the partner organisations. Gender, age, and educational balance will be ensured. Both experienced professionals and young professionals that have been working for organisations for less than two years will be involved in the project, including the preparation of this application form.EUTIS, o.p.s. is the main organiser and coordinator of the project. The project is managed by the project leader and three project coordinators representing each of the partner organisations. They will be responsible for the preparation of participants, and logistical and practical matters related to the project. The key activity of the project is aneight day seminar taking place in June/July 2016 in Cologne. The seminar will include various activities. Apart from the presentation of the participating organisations, their activities, and experience, discussions about civic education and role of simulation games in it, participants will have the opportunity to actively take part in a simulation organised in a local school by the German partners and understand the opinions and attitudes of the students. They can also join the students on a study trip to Brussels and discuss with European politicians, experts and officials in seats of European institutions. The project will result in the participants gaining new experience, skills, and methods of youth work, and improving the methods already in use. Another positive impact will be the creation of a network of cooperating European organisations which will enrich future projects and connect the practitioners from the respective organisations and young people from the European Union member states. The project will also deepen and promote the experience with the Erasmus+ programme and help the participants that don't have experience with mobility programmes yet.In the long term, the project will bring new experience and knowledge to young people. By improving the work of organisations active in non-formal and informal education, it will contribute to civic education of motivated youth, who will than share and make use of the results not only in further education, but also in future employment. The international scope of the project will help improve youth education across European countries and bring up young people not only as national, but also European citizens who are less tending to radicalisation. The project, its preparation, and realization will be presented at the meetings of the working group „Active participation of Youth Exchange among organisations“ of the EUNET network ,as well as at a conference and general assembly, where it will be introduced to the representatives of the 67 member organisations of EUNET. The project will also be presented and promoted at the websites of the partner organisations and EUNET, and in social media. The information will be further disseminated through the participants of project and participants of the educational simulation game organized by the Karl-Arnold-Stiftung in Cologne as part of this project. Local and regional media will be invited to inform about the project.
