Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The purpose of the project we carried out is to develop the problem solving skills of the youngsters and help them to have proactive attitude towards the problems they encounter in the life by encouraging them to find alternative solutions to get over them rather than expecting someone else to solve them. The aim was to develop active participation and contribute to entrepreneurship of socially and economically disadvantaged young people of our region. Taking the problems of youngsters? and individuals? everyday problems as the starting point, it was aimed to convey problem solving to youngsters and reflect it on their own lives. Another aim of the project is strengthening European citizenship awareness of the youth. Some of the targeted end results were more responsible youth by increased awareness that young people interested in public affairs would contribute more to their countries, making young people feel themselves valuable and care for other people by sympathizing with their problems. During the project, young people from two different countries carried out the project with mutual understanding and tolerance and realized that problems are easier to solve cooperatively and tolerance plays an important role in the process of problem solving. In this way, their self-esteem and feelings of empathy have been boasted. In our project, two trainers and ten youngsters from Turkey; two trainers and ten youngsters from our Macedonian partner participated. Total number of the participants in our project was twenty-four. Our Belgian partner could not make it to participate in the project due to social-political unrest in Macedonia on the days leading to project date. In the first step of our project, we brought the participating youngsters together. Then they focused on their problems. A variety of problems were put forward. Problems like difficulty to be pleased, extravagancy, disorganization, obsession with physical appearance and dressing were identified. First problem to be discussed was difficulty to be pleased. The students asked to form pairs and to do a role playing. Pairs coming up with roles were given the opportunity to demonstrate. As a result, importance of treating the livings and other beings around us with tolerance and respect was explained. The importance to have life philosophy of unconditional acceptance of people and the fact that we should not search for other people?s faults were emphasized. The obsession of young people with brand new clothes and physical appearance was discussed. Youngsters discussed these issues among them and did some role playing. It was identified that in our day societies are overly interested in outlook and young people are obsessed with their physical appearance and clothing to stand out in the society and attract attention. The common agreement was that youngsters should act reasonably and economically in line with their economic and social conditions. ?We should not put our family in a difficult situation? was chosen as a theme, youngsters demonstrated example cases trying to visualize the problem. Consequently, all the attendees came to the conclusion that dressing up smart does not necessarily means wearing expensive clothes and we should take our means and condition into consideration in our actions.
