In the modern globalized society and globalized environment, there is increasing competition in all sectors of the economy, particularly in tourism. In this context, on local and regional level, it acquires a special significance as the tourist destinations are trying to enhance their competitiveness, highlighting their comparative advantages by enhancing and enriching tourism resources and their 'image' as destinations. In this searching the specific forms of tourism such as wine tourism, acquire a special interest. It is a dynamically growing tourism form of special interest, an important component of regional development in contributing to local development through diversification of agriculture and also obeys to the principles of sustainability. The network Wineries of Heraklion considering these trends proceeded in this action so that the members (employers and personnel managers of wineries) could expand their business to new strategies to increase their income and diversifying the tourism product / image of the Prefecture of Heraklion in Crete. The program "TRAINING IN WINE TOURISM" by following the example of Tuscany regards information to promote and develop wine tourism. The wine tourism is a type of an alternative tourism and its purpose includes taste, consumption or purchase of wine from the place of production or near that place. Visiting vineyards, wineries, wine festivals and fairs, where the tasting and / or exploration of the characteristics of a wine region is the main motive for the guests is a special and alternative form of tourism. It is a category of thematic tourism, duly registered as belonging to the category of agritourism, in which contact with the wine is the focus, but not the end in itself. Crete is today one of the most unspoilt tourist destinations worldwide, it has a centuries-old culture vine cultivation and international reputation for many of the varieties and wines, it brings many elements of potential wine-tourist interest, such as natural beauty, typical local products and cuisine, museums and ancient monuments, so that we can discuss in a serious basis the perspective of wine tourism. Countries like Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, have given great importance and have made investments and participation in wine tourism through advertising campaigns with great success. The outlook and the benefits that can accrue from the development of wine tourism are particularly of importance. They include, among others, tourism development and promotion of more areas of Crete, stimulate and develop the local community, the acquaintance of travelers with Cretan wine, and opening the way for the export of Cretan products. The central aim of the proposal is the establishment and updating of winemakers in the region about opportunities and prospects offered through wine tourism. The educational needs of the network members of the wineries of Heraklion that arise from the broader development effort and promotion of wine tourism and enhance the quality of the country as a tourist destination, are as follows: • Expansion of activities to new development strategies such as wine tourism, • Strengthening of income, • Training / specialization in the way of coexistence crop-production and tourism, • Knowledge of the benefits of wine tourism, • Understanding the habits and requirements of the consumers to whom the gastronomic tourism. The specific objectives of the program are to train interested parties in modern techniques applied abroad, and are particularly distinguished: • Enhancing the capacity of participants to enable them to respond successfully to the demands put upon on the new reality, • Ensuring the ability of those interested to broaden the range of their activities, • Adopting new techniques and methods which are already widely used in the international market. Participants are entrepreneurs and HR managers in the industry who aim to educate their staff regarding the training subject and come from member companies of the sending institution. The total project duration is 14 days and will be held in Italy in the Tuscany region with the participation of 25 beneficiaries and will be held from 10/10/2014 up to 23/10/2014. The host organization Comunicazione GmbH selected has extensive experience and expertise in relation to mobility and adult education, and has great expertise in the specific field of training. Planned visits to companies deemed valuable and will contribute significantly to the skills of the participants.
