The current proposal consists of the training of 16 Greek instructors (electrical engineers, electronic engineers, physicists),of tertiary and higher education, at the Optoelectronics Research Centre Laboratories in the university of SOUTHAMPTON.In our days the most modern electrical installation practice of transmitting data, such as wide area networks (WAN), is carried out through the use of optical fibers and lasers. Also laser applications are in use in every field of science and technology.Data transmission WAN installations using optical fibers and measurements of the certification of the respecting network, aren't taught by any educational institution in Greece or in whatever grade you are even to professionals of the field, a fact which devalues the quality of the education provided to the future electrical and electronic installers pointing out the weakness of Greek educational system to follow closely the current technological advances. This specific mastery, such as telecommunications and computer data (data, sound, vision, video) and their offering services (teleconference , video conference etc) are provided only through some companies the majority being of American interests. As a result they parsimoniously circulate it among their own associates. The main need of implementing this specific mobility plan, is among others to cover the learning gaps of the new National Curriculum regarding Electrical and Electronics fields that the Ministry of Education has already designed.Major objective is to maximize the contribution of the vocational training in terms of innovation, by aiming in increasing the competitiveness and the elevation of new employment possibilities by means of certified training in a high-tech technology course. The expected outcome will be: 1. the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in courses related to optical signals system management by means of the most advanced weak currents electrical installations, 2. upgrading the scientific level of educational and teaching practice, and 3. finally to sensitize executives of Greek education on issues such as life long learning and training resulting in transferring current and updated technical knowledge to their students instead of a useless and an obsolete one.The above mentioned proposal will be implemented within a school vacation period given that ORC operates incessantly/continuously all year round.
