KARAOKE EUROPE
Start date: Jun 1, 2012,

KARAOKE EUROPE utilizes the experience of artists from 4 European countries dealing with DIFFERENT MINORITIES OF IMMIGRANTS OR SOCIALLY AND CULTURALLY EXCLUDED COMMUNITIES. The project looks at the relationship between the majority and minorities from various perspectives and brings the power of artistic imagination to the field where standard pragmatic methods are not effective. The aim is to confront, compare and combine the experiences of 4 theatre organizations. Project partners believe that art and social issues are deeply intertwined, that the theatre and artistic activities in general play a crucial role in OPENING COMMUNICATION BETWEEN DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES, giving a voice to people who would not be heard otherwise. They share the opinion that many of the conflicts in society are deeply emotional and subconscious, and that art can be an irreplaceable and extremely effective tool in dealing with the problems. The project deals with COMMUNITIES THAT ARE RATHER IMMOBILE - the mobility of artists and cultural workers is used to bring added value into the everyday lives of these communities and foremost to BUILD BRIDGES BETWEEN THEM AND THE MAJORITY COMMUNITY.OBJECTIVESTo share and develop the methodology and work processesTo promote the methods of social specific theatreTo create a Handbook on Social Specific Theatre Approaches and MethodsTo open the discussion on topics of minorities, the attitudes and responsibility of majority society, cohabitation of different cultures, intercultural dialogue, prevention of racism and xenophobia and the search for a possible new concept of coexistence of different cultures in EuropeTo involve various neglected, marginalized communities into the creative process, giving them a voice and enabling communication with majorityOUTCOMES8 COLLABORATIVE AND METHODOLOGICAL WORKSHOPS in 4 countries 2 INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUMS4 CO-PRODUCTIONSWebsiteHANDBOOK – methodology resourceKaraoke Europe FESTIVAL
