Kansainvälisyyttä Muurolaan
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Muurola comprehensive school decided to participate in Erasmus+ staff mobility project, for our school hasn’t taken part in any international co-operation projects ever, and thus we recognize that as such we cannot respond to the international demands the new national curriculum in Finland (2016) sets for education in comprehensive schools. The objectives of our mobility project are to create international co-operation and connections between our school and the partner school (between organizations, staff and pupils), to enhance the professional and international skills and language competences of our school staff, and to offer more international and higher-quality education for our pupils, and especially to improve the quality and versatility of our language teaching. With the help of this mobility project we want to offer our pupils real, personal, motivating, modern, versatile and international learning opportunities for language learning and also opportunities to use English in real life. We want to offer higher-quality and more versatile language teaching for the pupils in our school, and to develop and improve our teaching methods and ways to learn. In addition, we want to create new and innovative learning environments for our pupils, especially with the help of new information technology. Also the staff, teachers and pupils in our partner school will be able to visit our school correspondingly within the project period. Within the similar Job Shadowing - period they will get a chance to learn and observe our daily functions, teaching methods and culture in our school. That way they will also get a chance to learn the culture and the language in our country and region, and get international experiences and develop their multicultural and European knowledge. Also the pupils in our partner school will get an opportunity to get new learning experiences, information and skills in co -operations with the pupils in our school. We intend to apply 18 activities for our school. Teachers that are teaching English in our school, persons assisting English lessons, and other teachers interested in international issues are involved in these activities. Our staff will take part in Job Shadowing -mobility in our partner school (Furbo National School in Ireland; 5 persons from our staff in June 2015, 5 persons in December in 2015, 4 persons in December 2016) and attend professional training in Ireland and Great Britain (4 persons in June in 2016). These courses will deal especially with language teaching and developing new teaching methods. During the Job shadowing -period we are going to create connections between our schools, teachers and pupils and also to observe the teaching and daily functions in the partner school. During and after this mobility project we will observe and monitor our participating school staff with different kinds of questionnaires, discussions, reports and pupils’ feedbacks. We will also train other teachers and staff in our school, who are not actively taking part in this project. We will share our experiences, information and new skills for other teachers, staff members, pupils and parents in meetings, trainings, in teacher -parent meetings, on our school’s web pages and also within different kinds of international special subject days. As a result of this mobility project and the connections and co -operation projects created in this project, our aim is to include internationality in various functions, subjects and everyday learning in our school. In these projects we will make better and more innovative use of our information technology devices. Our teachers’ and pupils’ language skills and motivation for learning languages will improve through these new connections and real life co -operations. We will develop and create new teaching methods and ideas, and especially offer higher-quality, more modern and versatile language teaching for our pupils. With the help of this mobility project we want to create a base for our continuous international co -operation and projects in the future, develop our pupils’ strengths and capabilities in the future labour market, as a result of improved language skills and international experiences, and to offer more skilled labour for our town and community.
