Kanepi Gymnasium is an institution of secondary education located in South Estonia where every student is paid attention to and, therefore, every student could be treated individually taking into account and supporting their specificities. Its total number of students in year 2016 is 174. Its educational staff has 40 members.The curriculum is focused on natural science and languages and both formal and non-formal learning is provided to support the goals. Therefore, training camps, outdoor activities, field trips, and practically oriented workshops are organized. The main objective of our school is to provide the education which helps to manage in the developing national and European environment. The development of the students’ entrepreneurship, initiative and analytical skills by creating internal and external opportunities is considered essential for sustainability of our students. In order to meet the objectives, it is important to provide a training opportunity for teachers to increase students' interest in learning. Modern science teaching enables students to understand the importance of a scientific approach of the present and of the future. Inquiry based learning helps to develop the skills of the students in collecting and analyzing data, conducting experiments to explain the phenomena that are being studied. Scientific thinking is important for the development of the student giving the ability to adequately process the information obtained. In addition to analytical skills, getting and understanding information, communication and socialization in European context is of great importance. Therefore, proficiency in foreign languages is crucial and it is important to pay attention to language teaching and the efficiency of the modernization of methodology through ICT skills.The general purpose of the project is to support science and language development in our school in a professional manner. The aim is to improve STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) education by applying greater exploratory learning opportunities offered by ICT with different programs, software or tools. Participation in the international training increases knowledge, skills and competencies in new methods in teaching natural sciences and languages as well (digital learning).Dissemination of the knowledge and experience gained at the courses is included into the teachers training plan of the school and of the county. We have chosen the teacher development courses to meet our needs. Participants will be trained to use new methodologies in language learning and teaching and applying ICT. The objectives of the courses are to enable better skills in technology and ICT and introduce an awareness of ways of integrating ITC with teaching methodologies for everyday use (e-learning, e-teaching, digital competence, virtual laboratories). Innovative, modern teaching methods are implemented into the classroom.The objectives of the courses include further development of the language skills of the participants. The sharing of pedagogical knowledge and cooperative work will benefit for the future European projects of our school.This project will provide training for five teachers. The participant teachers will be selected by a selection committee that includes the school's principals and the head of science teaching and the head of language teaching department through individual interviews that will guarantee the best match between the course's objectives, applicable prerequisites to participate, and participants skills, proven and expected competences and needs according to the school's future development plan.The expected outcome of the project (previously outlined in section F.1) is diverse. Renewed and updated skills allow participants to evaluate and analyse the educational and teaching materials of the colleagues by sharing their work with each other. Training courses should encourage teachers to develop their own teaching methods to include technology in the classroom or other learning environments, to compare them with the aim of finding the best methods of teaching. In the longer term, the knowledge gained from the training, skills and techniques will be integrated into everyday practice. The participants of the courses disseminate the new skills through the school workshops. The staff participating in the trainings are the carriers of innovations that inspire and enhance our school teaching quality. Practical, hands-on sessions carried out after the courses will contribute to the transfer and integration of the knowledge, experience and skills from other participants all over Europe. Competencies, skills and European experience that is acquired through the international courses are recognized and integrated into teachers' professional development plan of the participants and follower colleagues and therefore of great value for the promotion of the school.
