"Jowisz means Jupiter - I teach in English" Project "Jowisz means Jupiter - I teach in English" is carried out in Primary School number 6 in Biała Podlaska. The project will last 24 months. The main goal of the project is to make the school more innovative . We have planned to introduce subjects taught in English into educational offer of our school. The elements of CLIL are to be gradually introduced during the lessons of 5th and 6th class learners. During the school year 2015/2016 teachers are planning to acquire essential language skills and methodology to prepare the set of materials and techniques needed to perform a lesson in English. The final result of the project will be “English Day” organised once a month since the 1st of September 2016 during which all students of the 5th and 6th classes will be taught in English. Additional aim of the project is to make better use of the equipment possessed by school and to continue building European dimension of our school. The headmaster of the school and 16 other teachers are involved in the project. In order to achieve mentioned goals nine different mobilities were planned. Their aim is to gain language, methodology, and organisational skills. The group of twelve teachers is to take part in the language courses organised in Ireland and Norway. Their better English skills will be used not only to perform lessons but also to gain knowledge about CLIL and find new partners in European schools. In 2016 four teachers will take part in the methodology course about introducing CLIL in primary schools. To support their efforts to introduce English based lessons, four English teachers will take part in different methodology courses in Great Britain. Experiences and techniques which they are to gain will be used to improve English language teaching in our school. Consequently, student will receive better preparation to learn in English. Next, job shadowing visit in Italy is planned so as to understand and introduce innovative methods of learning/teaching . Our partner school is based on the project on innovation in learning environments and their didactic plan is based on the use of ICT. Significant knowledge of school organization model and teaching skills are to be acquired. Undoubtedly, the project will have positive influence on our staff’s skills. As a consequence, our school will become more innovative and competing. Innovative lessons based on English language can help our students to achieve better results as well as to gain confidence and motivation. In the future, this may give our students a chance to get a better job. Moreover, newly acquired skills and contacts established during the visits to other countries will enable us to continue carrying out other international projects.
