Junge ASF-Freiwillige im Einsatz für Inklusion und Verständigung
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS project “Young ASF-Volunteers in action for inclusion and understanding" by Action Reconciliation Service for Peace (ARSP) is a one-year international encounter program that aims to rise awareness for the situation of people with dissabilities and to improve their situation through the engagment of young volunteers. Moreover, the project also focus on history, present and the consequences of the National Socialist era in the different european societies. During these 12 month five young people from Germany will activly support three organizations in Israel and Belarus. Through the European Voluntary Service in these countries the young Germans can learn the concepts of active citizenship and civil involvement as for a politically stable and peaceful Europe and stand up for the interests of people with disabilities. In addition, they gain skills and abilities for their future professional life. The memories of occupation and extermination policy of the National Socialist regime in Israel and Belarus are still alive and quite painful. Volunteers' participation can be seen as a sign of solidarity and Europe's cohesion also at times of crisis or conflict. In this context, we cooperate with our project partners, who take the responsibility for the volunteers and support them with advice and assistance. Especially in the current situation it ist important to support the civil society engagement in these countries. The EVS project contributes to a better understanding and cooperation between Europe and its neighbouring countries, serves to strengthen the local civil organisations and to support the people, who are active in social cohesion, dialog and human rights protection.
