Nowadays, discrimination, exclusion and stigmatization are very frequent and reach many subjects and sectors, with a concerning escalation to violence in many European Countries. To be discriminated or harassed has a terrible and long-lasting impact on health, self-esteem, participation and inclusion in the society. Young people have to face several challenges in a day by day more multicultural Europe. The project “Jump in a Living Library” aims at the promotion of intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and to fight discriminations through a Youth Exchange. In particular, the project’s objectives are:- To raise awareness on discriminations - To promote Human Rights and values of tolerance and empathy- To influence positively youth’s attitudes enhancing critical thinking and intercultural competences The contexts, where young people live, not always offer appropriate facilities to develop intercultural learning. The Youth Exchange with 42 young people between 18 and 25 years old, coming from 8 countries (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, Italy), including participant with fewer opportunities, will be an opportunity to actually realize a small multicultural reality where freely reflecting on the “diversity” issue. During the nine-days-exchange in Naples, it will be developed a series of simulation’s activities, brainstorming, workshops, role plays in order to identify oneself with different realities, to promote shared considerations and tolerance, critical analysis and problem solving. Moreover, it will be organized a Living Library, a simple and concrete experience open to general public, to promote dialogue, to break stereotypes and foster understanding. Thanks to this Youth Exchange, participants will widen their network with other young people and international associations, they will be able to realize or propose innovations to improve activities for young people inside their communities/associations. In particular, they will have that extra oomph not only to face better current difficulties, but also to promote a positive change of attitudes inside their own lives. On a local level, the Living Library experience will allow to engage also other local associations and public opinion, which will be sensitized through a direct involvement in the event.
