Start date: Jan 15, 2015, End date: Dec 15, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

RAZ - Ran an die Zukunft - Towards the Future is an institution of the Evangelische Jugend Bremen - Evangelical Youth Bremen, responsible for counceling and accompanying young people in the age of 14 to 25, during shift from school to career. RAZ councels young people with less opportunities in deprived areas of the Hanseatic City of Bremen, Germany. In this context RAZ Bremen has organised an international Youth Exchange in collaboration with the Youth Center in Izmir, located in Verden/Niedersachsen, Germany that took place in summer 2015. Beforehand a first gathering of Youth Exchange was located in Izmir, Turkey in summer 2014. Our (RAZ) highest aim is to strengthen young people´s personality while they experiencing life, on their pass into world of work and future prospects. Our general attitude towards our Youth is ressource-oriented and appreciative. Our purpose of Youth Exchange has been to strengthen young people´s social personality and identity and to promote their intercultural and vocational skills in particular. Twenty young people participated at the exchange in summer 2015. Mostly in deprived areas living young people, living at poverty level, with migrant background, refugees or immigrants, do need special support during shift from school to career. Mostly support through a fixed frame is needed with a rhythm and structure in their daily routine. At the gathering in Verden, Germany special assistants have supported our youth in small groups, because these young people do often have a lack of soft skills - i.e. communication skills, team orientation and organizational skills. With support of language animation and translation a necessary assistance has been given. The activities and methods of our youth exchange included exercises of language animation, become acquainted with each other, discover project environment of the Hanseatic City of Bremen and surrounding area, including leisure time together. The vocational resources of our young people were developed and presented during several Future Workshops. The professionals gave inputs towards life planning in Europe. The young people had been guided by several methods to their own strengths and resources. While practicing team and partner exercises the young people received an opportunity to intensify their knowledge of personal identity, and were brought closer to themselves and their abilities.
