The project "Jovens djunto pa um sociedade civil midjor"(meaning Youngsters together for a better civil society, in a Cape Verdian Creole) is a Group SVE project that have as principal aims to give volunteers a real opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes, putting into practice their own experiences, reflections, comments and their own initiatives, participating actively with open heart in the host organization activities, therefore in the communities covered by their actions. This project takes place in the Fogo Island, Cape Verde in the host organization, OAF – Organização das Associações da Ilha do Fogo. Estimulo, from Portugal will send 4 EVS volunteers to its partner organization to develop a project within the themes of “Cooperation for Development” and “Social and Cultural Animation” for 6 months. The volunteers, along with the technical staff will be involved in projects that are being implemented on the Fogo Island by OAF. The activities that the volunteers will have to perform in the area of socio-cultural animation and development cooperation shall be: Assist in identifying and developing community development projects; Support in daily tasks of the organization; Help to implement a system of monitoring and evaluation of community projects; Assist the technical staff with the follow up and evaluation of community projects of the members of OAF; Aid on awareness campaigns; Collaborate in the preparation of training sessions for the member associations; Help to prepare events for communities such as celebrations of special dates (eg 5 th of June, World Environment Day). The volunteers will participate in the scheduled tasks with full support from mentors, tutors and technicians of host organization. The project is designed with sufficient flexibility to adapt to the schedule, needs and preferences of each volunteer. Volunteers also will be invited to develop a personal project.
