JÓVENES CONSTRUYENDO IGUALDAD
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS project "Youth betting for a gender equality strategy" plans to carried out for 14 months in the town of Maracena (Granada-Andalusia-Spain), receiving 5 volunteers, of which 3 will develop the project referred primarily as being integrated to a local council program which works on education, training, recreation and culture, focused for the youth (Espacio Jóven). And 2 in the council's woman government platform (local council institute for gender equality, Centro de la Mujer). That said, the 5 volunteers will act in a coordinated manner, based on the planned schedule for the goals to achieve. We have chosen as the main theme of the project "Gender Equality" because if we want to advance and therefore not go backwards to the gains we achieved as a society, efforts earned with work to introduce to our beloved Europe, it seems essential that the youth population deepens into a significant and transversal issue of this matter (especially in a crisis like the one we have). While this concern has always been a theme present in all projects and activities of the local institute for gender equality and the council youth program, right now we are privileged to have new facilities that enable and enhance our capacity to act, and therefore our ability to offer great experiences of European volunteering activities. The volunteers will hold a specific training on equality talks, which will be applied in various activities of the program schedule. Along with that special purpose, from our project, and with the help of European voluntary, we seek to encourage youngsters of Maracena to reflect on the importance of Erasmus+ Program and encourage them to get involved in various projects that from our organization we look to put in place; which will lead them to be more determined to be aware of their possibilities, and the role they play as youth in creating a better future. That's why one of the key elements of this project is the "immersion" of European volunteers in youth activities and especially local volunteerism. The activities plan in the project has been developed by the team responsible of "SVE Maracena" along with youth organizations collaborating in the project, based on our experiences and analyzing needs, strengths and weaknesses. Of all of them, we highlight the following: • Publicizing information between the youth through campaigns as advertising and participation in the activities inviting other youth locals of the community to participate. • Using social networks. • Collaboration with the Eurodesk Network, spreading international information from the municipality. • Support for international projects. • Language Exchange between cultures. • Participation and promotion in educational, cultural, social, sporting and environmental activities. • Support and collaboration with other associations and public organizations of the local council. We are fully involved in the projection to enhance a better Europe and with the belief that it is a privileged space for all the youth to learn, which will allow us to not only approach more knowledge, (including the professional type), but also practice and promote new models of egalitarian relationships, providing a reference for other young people and to the population as a whole. As regards to the impact of the project, we are convinced as that this will contribute not only to enriching the lives of the volunteers as with the learning, the experience achieved and creating ties with our community, but also as well as improving the policy strategies of egalitarian gender we developed locally and to help with our experience to the advancement of regional, national and European policies.
