Journey into Finance
Start date: Feb 25, 2015, End date: Feb 24, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our association has as strategic goal for the next period to become known as provider of nonformal programs regarding subjects related to the economic environment based on the experience in business of the people who set this NGO two years ago. We propose a multi- actions project including a 5 days training for youth workers and a 12 days exchange where we invited as partners 5 organizations with experience in international activities which expressed their interest for the theme of the project and contributed to the creation of the activity plan. The purpose of the project is to embark the participants in a journey of reflection, discoveries and experiences that will place them as responsible citizens in front of personal and carrier choices. Journey into Finance is about creating through nonformal learning awareness and understanding over a series of related concepts of which have in common MONEY the usage of money. We do not ask for any economic knowledge from the participants but for sure at the end of this experience they will be more confident in their understanding of today’s realities on the European labor market and capital market. We invited for the training a team of 2 youth workers that will spend 3 days in Bucharest then 2 days in a high school in a small town where they will test the methods with the students during the Non formal activities week next April. We invited teams of 6+1 leader in the exchange considering the fact that we have so many organizations involved as beneficial both from the point of view of the intercultural exchanges as well as diversity of problematic faced in each country that will be taken into discussion. Our journey will begin will beginn with the currency, the history of the apparition of the common currency EURO, which will lead the participants into debating over the European citizenship. Then it will continue with the concept of luxury only to introduce the next to concept of easy money coming from gambling and betting in opposition with consumer rights and responsible consumption which will be the next subject. Departing from consumption needs the participants will discuss about budgets, family budgets at this stage, but they will become familiar with some issues related to saving and investments. Having all this in mind the participants will be led into the main topic of the exchange – the entrepreneurship. They will first establish the profile of an entrepreneur and then undergo some tests that will tell them if they are ready to enter the labor market as employees or ventures in support of an original idea. They will be invited to work in teams in creating business ideas – with mission, values and objectives that would differentiate them on the market from their competitors. They will assess the needs and find financing for their businesses and in the end of the day they will produce, market and sell their products. After entering in so much depth into the world of money the participants will enjoy a day in the Money Free Zone where they will learn about social valuable activities that bring satisfaction and fulfillment such as volunteering and other activities that are included for the companies large or small in their Corporate Social Responsibility Policies. The participants will receive Youth-passes for the numerous competences that will be tackled in this project. The contribution of the youth workers would not be over at the end of the exchange since they would have to help in preparing a fluid book containing the methods used during the exchange. For the dissemination the partners will only have to advertise the results of the project while the host organization will have to organize the dissemination on three ranges of target groups touching youngsters, teachers and youth workers. We expect the project to bring valuable experience to the youth workers who will involved in methodological approach and implementation. We expect the issue acquired during the project to constitute a valuable tool for the young people on their carrier path.
