Jonge Groningers Vooruit
Jonge Groningers Vooruit
Start date: Jun 1, 2013,
Youngsters talk with other youngsters about their dreams and future wishes in three different municipalities in the province of Groningen. They discuss their issues with policymakers, politicians and other stakeholders in their municipality. The involved municipalities are challenged with demographic changes. The percentage of old people is growing and young families are moving away and leave these regions with an imbalanced demography. This situation is a fact. The administrators of these municipalities are therefore focussing on keeping their area vital under the changing circumstances. Older people, being the largest group in these area’s, are asked for their opinions and wishes according to livability of their direct environment. But not all the youngsters will leave the area and should also be heard about their future wishes. What do they want when they grow up? How do they want to live? Youngsters ask their peers about their dreams in general and about work, sports, knowledge and education, personal development, safety, public space, living, accessibility, culture, leisure and facilities in particular. After this investigation youngsters will discuss the outcome with local administrators, policymakers, companies and social institutions. Together they look into the results and the possibility to realize these results. The things that can be realized will be subscribed in a so-called “Agenda of the Youth”, forming part of future policy on livability in the participating municipalities.
