Joint Action for Health - Fostering cross-border cooperation for high-quality health services (J.A.H.)
Start date: Dec 31, 2011, End date: Dec 30, 2012 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project aims to produce information on good practices and recommendations on how differences in health care systems, communications technology and legislation can be overcome across borders in order to provide better health care in RO - HU cross-border region. Considering the effects of demographic change the efficiency of health systems has to be enhanced, also in a cross-border context. There is a special need for joint training schemes, professional contact and beneficial sharing of good practice both in managerial and professional terms. Given that the potential exists, a joint project could foster the high-quality health services in this area. The project also aims to familiarize healthcare professionals with cross-border EU economic and socio-cultural space in order to have a better understanding of patients' healthcare demands. This happens through 8 medical conferences in Alesd-RO and Berettyoujfalu-HU (for doctors and for nurses), 2 workshops (for public hospital management and local stakeholders involved in the management of the partner hospitals), 2 language courses and health promotion activities (a cross-border healthcare Handbook and a medical Agenda). The general objective of the project is improving cross-border cooperation in the RO-HU border for solving the population health care needs, with respect to the EU health requirements; On one hand, direct beneficiaries belong to the hospital from Alesd, 200 employees, employees from the city halls involved in the management of these hospitals (20 people - 10 for each city hall, including Mayors, from Alesd & Berettyoujfalu); 80 lectors contracted to do the presentations; external medical employees from the border area who will participate at conferences. On the other hand, the other direct beneficiary is the population of the two cross-border localities who benefit of high-quality medical services, 10.415 inhabitants in Alesd and 16.000 inhabitants in Berettyoujfalu.
