Join Pilsen 2015
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The aim of the project was to realize two long term European Voluntary Services during the term of eight months following the preparation of the European Capital of Culture (ECoC). The City of Pilsen bears the ECoC title for the year 2015. The aim of the ECoC project is to represent wealth and diversity of European cultures and to contribute on understanding between people in various cultures which the European Union contains. It is focused on two processes: the development of international cooperation and involvement of local people in the preparation and implementation of activities linked with this title. Pilsen 2015 follows both these dimensions in its activity and fulfilment of them is an important part of the European Voluntary Service, we realized too. The project Join Pilsen 2015 focused on strengthening the international cooperation in the field of art, production and PR support of the art resident programme Open A.i.R. (content of activity of first mobility - M1) and development of community activities with the emphasis on volunteering, production and PR support of Pilsen 2015 voluntary programme Guardian Angels club (content of activity of second mobility - M2). Both participants of Join Pilsen 2015 project, Matthieu Dubrac from France (M1) and Simona Kuciaková from Slovakia (M2) joined the Join Pilsen 2015 project because they wanted to be a part of the ECoC and to get experience in the field of cultural production, where local meets the international. They cooperated with the artists and experts from Pilsen, Czech Republic and abroad, but also with the local community. Among the broad spectre of activities of projects of the ECoC and Join Pilsen 2015 they also used the opportunity to develop their abilities in their favourite fields (cooperation of artists and the public, involving the local community in taking care of public space, land art and music), which was reflected also in their own mini-projects. Content of activity of volunteer Matthieu Dubrac from France (M1) from February 8th to October 8th 2015 was the assistance of production of art residents - caring for the artists, help with acquiring the needed material, presentation of the activities for the public and on social media. Content of activity of the volunteer from Slovakia, Simona Kuciaková (M2) from December 1st 2014 to July 31st 2015 was the assistance of production of the volunteering programme - communication with volunteers, assistance with the trainings and regular meetings of volunteers, assistance with the coordination of volunteers during major events including the opening ceremonial in January 2015, presentation of programme on social media. We have expected following results: strengthening of international cooperation and international exchange, contribution to the informal education, increasing of qualification of participating volunteers and their coordinators, building the bonds across the European countries. We see the long-term benefits in the experience which were acquired by all participants and the possibility to build on the acquired contacts and ties together and to create new projects and continue with the cooperation, even though in another context.
