Jobshadowing – learning together – improving volunteering
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Nov 17, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

?Learning together-Improve volunteering? appeared after a collaboration project between Irina and Ramon, the international project coordinator of HoT. Irina was part of a newly born organization, Coaching 4Eu and there was a big need in understanding how an organization is managed and how to develop actions that target youth with fewer opportunities. The mission of Coach 4EU is to help young people with fewer opportunities have a career by using coaching as a tool. Therefore, as Ramon was part of HoT, they became the hosting organization, having the profile required by Irina. Also both of the organizations were in need for developing their international cooperation, fact that facilitated the development of the jobshadowinng. The objectives of the project are: 1. To gain and develop skills, knowledge and attitudes related with youth unemployment and youth with fewer opportunities and coming from challenging backgrounds 2. To gain and develop knowledge, skills and attitudes of project management in conducting project in the european framework that target youth unemployment. 3. To understand the relation and impact of social policies regarding youth 4. To share good practices regarding the youth work on european level especially related with EVS projects 5. To experience and understand both cultures and how we can integrated the difference and similarities in our further cooperation The people present in the jobshadowing was one. Irina is an early graduate in psychology that has experience in volunteering and participating in youth events. As for the moment she is unemployed she decided to join Coaching 4 EU in developing programs for youth with fewer opportunities using coaching as a tool. She comes from Romania where the economic situation is not very good and especially now, that even with a degree she is unemployed. As undertaken activities were case work (working with an Iranian boy having problems in school, working with his mother), project management (helping HoT with the accreditation for hosting EVS volunteers), learning sessions with Petra, the coordinator of HoT on how to manage an international organization, activities with children on summer activities (expression through painting) and visits to the political institutions dealing with youth unemployment. Being part of the activities made Irina recognize the work of HoT in creating activities for young people with fewer opportunities that help them express themselves. Also working with one boy that doesn?t speak the same language made her create new ways of interaction and understanding like drawing, playing non verbal games etc. She made an action plan for developing an organization based on the experience in HoT and also by having the learning plan with Petra. By participating on the activities with the children built the environment to get to know them and to create connection that will facilitate the work. Also she understood what are the qualities that are needed to work in these environments: empathy and structured, creative and patient. Being involved in the process of accreditation for EVS, Irina learned how to write a European project especially for getting financial support. Through this activity she developed her knowledge and skills in project management and knowledge on how to use European platform for getting support for your projects. On a long term a very good cooperation between Coach 4EU and HoT was established as they were partners in their projects, like Pronet-social idea incubator and a youth exchange on healthy behaviors. Also as the application for hosting EVS was accepted therefore the impact that the jobshadowing had on the organization is one of long term. For Coach 4EU it meant developing the knowledge on management and implementing a structure of management, as well as developing international relations.
