Jobshadowing als EU-orientierter Impuls der Qualitäts- und Schulprogrammentwicklung
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jul 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Rosenhöhe Comprehensive School Bielefeld, is an urban co-educational school consisting of four classes in each form, which offers all secondary school qualifications and the A-level. It is located on the outskirts of the city of Bielefeld (320,000 inhabitants) .Within the context of internal differentiation pupils of all learning abilities are taught. Since the school year 2013/14 pupils of assessed special educational needs (inclusion school) - starting with form5 - are taught at our school. The school profile is characterized by a variety of activities (including intensive monitoring of the students in choosing a career orientation), which is shown in the school programme. This is to be extended towards EU orientation. A first step is the Job shadowing of our careers coordinator. In accordance with a measure lasting over several weeks, our coordinator should elicit the possibilities for our students of having work experiences in foreign countries. Therefore he contacts companies and organizations that are willing to support these work experiences. The second focus of his work is the examination of the current state of the inclusion debate in Malta. The Jobshadowing is mainly carried out at the "Let Me Learn Centre Malta“, an institution that is supported by the University of Malta and the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education. The coordinator is a university lecturer with the focus on „Inclusion and Access to Learning”. With his help, contact to individual schools will be established and a visit at inclusion classes will be carried out. If possible first arrangements for a strategic partnership with our school can be established. The coordinator for the studies and career choices of our school ( Stubo ) has worked for many years in this field. He organizes work experiences and performs further training for teachers. He is experienced in the conceptual development of projects and proactive in new developments. He also provides the guarantee that the implementation in the concept of career guidance and our school programme is realized by working groups. In the job shadowing the foreign world is confronted with our own reality through participant observation. The results obtained allow our school a long -term benefit in our school program work and cause a modified EU orientation, which connects the aims of our school with those of an EU school. Collaboration with the Let Me Learn Centre will give us a fresh impetus for the quality assurance of our educational activities. Students’ work experiences in Malta open up new perspectives on the career choices of our students.
