Job Quest in East and West!
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

While young people are at school they should begin to think about and plan for their future. This project aims to help students with their career planning, develop their knowledge and understanding of education, training and employment options, develop initial skills to effectively manage their careers throughout their lives, lead them to the realistic understanding of the world of work and explore possible career options. In the course of the project students will research the industries in the hometowns, in the nearest neighbourhood and abroad in the partner`s country. Visitors from different fields of employment will come to schools to talk about their jobs and answer students` questions. Students will visit local industries and businesses to learn more about the world of work. Hopefully students will do some voluntary work. In Belgium training weeks at work placements will be organised. Students will learn how to write a CV and job application letters as well as hold "pretend" job interviews in class. Students will prepare questionnaires and interview their parents, neighbours or make arrangements with working people to learn more about jobs. They will gather evidences and study real life cases in terms of work. The end product is an e-magazin in which students will write articles describing the job and explaining what they feel they would like or dislike about the person’s job that they interviewed. They will write about meeting with different professionals, about visiting industries and add photos they will take during these visits. Students will write articles about different jobs available in their hometowns, interviews with the representatives of different professions. The second end product is a set of cartoons about job qualities and values created by the students in the international groups during the student exchange. The set of cartoons can be used as teaching and learning material after the project is over. The main aim is for students to develop the desire and the ability to set their goals and reach them, so that they can take responsibility for their own career choices and decisions consciously.
