Język obcy podstawowym narzędziem pracy w Zespole Szkół Ekonomicznych nr 1 w Krakowie
Start date: Dec 31, 2014, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Complex of Schools of Economics No 1 in Cracow is a state school which comprises a four-year Technical School of Economics and Hospitality No 4 and a one-year Vocational School for Adults. The school is planning to open Course Centre for adults giving opportunity to gain Technician Diploma in Economics, Hospitality, Tourism, and Public Economy and Administration. The school provides education for students aged 16-19 in three specialties: economics, hospitality and tourism. The students of hospitality have already taken part in apprenticeships abroad and because these activities improve students’ skills the school is planning to offer a wider choice of trainings abroad and building up a cooperation with the Prague’s College of Economics. Therefore the ability to communicate in foreign languages both for the students and for the teachers is a necessary condition for fulfilling the goals. Hence the idea of sending the teachers of comprehensive subjects, professional subjects and foreign languages to language courses and courses in methods of teaching in other European countries. Apart from improving linguistic skills the teachers would have a chance to find future partners for cooperation with The Complex of Schools of Economics No 1 in Cracow. These could include secondary schools, colleges, hotels and companies. The school is planning to introduce new elements to school’s curriculums and the techniques of teaching foreign languages. Over 40 teachers are going to participate in the project and all of them have to take part in preparatory activities in Krakow (languages courses and/or courses in History and Geography) and then they are to take part in 2-week Language courses and Methodology and Teaching Strategies courses in Great Britain, Ireland, Malta, Germany and … . The school is going to prepare a list of available courses abroad, then it is going to register the teachers for these courses, organise the trip, pay for the courses and the stay of the participants. While monitoring the participants’ progress, the school is going to analyse the Europass Mobility Tool and Europass Language Passport. The teachers are going to use the gained knowledge for improving the curriculums (variety of topics, its schedule, methods and techniques of teaching) and organising the future projects for the students. In this way The Complex of Schools of Economics No 1 in Cracow is going to have better educated and qualified staff who are going to introduce new teaching techniques, use foreign languages while teaching other subjects, and increase the school’s level of teaching. Cooperation with foreign institutions would add to students’ development, their mobility, openness to other cultures and habits, and their tolerance. Even though the project is addressed to the teachers, its effects would influence the students and their professional and personal development. The goal of the school is the situation when all the teachers and the students communicate in a foreign language, and cooperating with partners from abroad is not reserved for a narrow group of teachers and students.
