Język i nowoczesne metody kształcenia drogą do sukcesu naszej szkoły
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Mar 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The functioning of Erazm Józef Jerzmanowski Primary School No. 4 in Wieliczka is based on its Concept Paper. The essence of that Concept Paper is a brief phrase: ‘Here is the friendly beginning of your path towards success’. Our school provides a safe, secure and caring environment, where the potential of the individual is identified from the very beginning, supported during the whole education process and appreciated in order to enable the child to achieve its own success. The competence development of our school teaching staff is continuously supported. We use a variety of teaching methods and strategies in our daily work, including the most modern and interactive ones. We intend to implement the project entitled ‘Foreign language and modern teaching methods as a key to success of our school’ in order to acquire new teaching methods and improve the linguistic skills and professional mobility by our staff. We intend to seek for potential partners for the realization of our future projects. One of our goals is to improve the mutual cooperation and integration of our school teaching staff. Thirteen members of the school staff will participate in this project. We analysed the available courses for teachers improving their language and methodic skills with regard to our specific needs and the School Development Plan as the latter obliges all teachers to regularly improve their knowledge of the English language and its methodics so that to keep the school open for the European trends. During the project we intend to take part in three study visits abroad. The professional methodic courses in Great Britain, Ireland and Portugal meet our needs and requirements. The first of them will take place in Scarborough (UK) in the Autumn 2016. It will be attended by three teachers of English who are expected to hone their communicative skills and to maintain the contact with the everyday English. The second study visit will take place in the late Autumn 2016 or at the beginning of 2017 in Dublin (Ireland). It will be attended by the rest teachers partaking in the project so that to improve their language skills up to the point which enables them for the mutual collaboration with the potential partners of eTwinning projects. The improved language skills will allow the teachers for running interests groups for children as well as other projects implemented partially or wholly in English; it should make teaching offer of the school more attractive. The last study visit will be paid in April 2017 in Lisbon (Portugal). It will be attended by all the teachers partaking in the project so that to improve their knowledge regarding the innovative and modern teaching methods. The project will directly result in the acquisition of new skills and gaining new experiences by the involved teachers, which will enrich the scope of their methodics in regard to the lessons, interest groups and the projects (‘My break’, ‘Jolly break’) thereby making the offer of the school more modern and attractive. In the course of time the proposed project will contribute to make the teachers more open and eager to improve all the educational processes by means of preparing valuable publications and sharing experiences in and outside the school (including eTwinning platform). The long-term benefit will be the fact, that our teachers will be eager to respond to a great variety of international challenges and they will be ready for exchanging their experience. The results of the project will be disseminate through the publications in periodicals for professional teachers and in the local press as well as through the report published on the websites of the school, municipality and the Voivodeship Office of Education.
