Jaunie izaicinājumi agrīnajā izglītībā
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Private Preschool PROSUM was founded in 2009 with a goal and a mission to help children develop into motivated life-long learners, who are independent, physically and socially responsible human beings, able to successfully adapt to the changing world. To achieve this goal PROSUM abides by the Montessori methodology. The key to success is the teacher who has knowledge of the needs of the child and appropriate teaching materials, who has well-developed observation skills allowing to better understand the real needs of the child. In preschool PROSUM great emphasis is being placed on the foreign language knowledge in order to train a child so he/she would have an authentic pronunciation, courage to speak in a foreign language and a global view of things and events as well as ability to formulate their views in a foreign language. Thus future career opportunities are promoted through early acquirement of knowledge and skills needed for entering the labour market.Since 2009 number of learners in PROSUM has raised ten times and preschool continues to pursue excellence through teacher professional development and the introduction of innovative working methods in daily practice. As a result of the rapid development of the institution, PROSUM is facing new challenges of early education, two of which make the core of this Erasmus+ project – 1) the increasing need to teach/learn foreign language at an earlier age and higher intensity; 2) to ensure effective implementation of inclusive education by successful adaption of teaching process and environment to children with special needs and/or learning difficulties and vice versa.Accordingly objectives of the project are:1) to implement in-service training of teaching staff;2) to train teachers to work with children with special needs and/or learning difficulties;3) to improve the English language teaching methodology for working with preschool children;4) successfully implement the knowledge, skills and experience gained through in-service training in daily practice of preschool;5) to continue development and improvement of motivating and healthy learning and teaching environment;6) to develop pedagogical staff motivation, to build self-confidence of teachers, to raise the awareness about the importance of the intercultural education. Objectives of the project are to be achieved by 6 mobility activities – structured courses on inclusive education in United Kingdom and the Czech Republic (2 mobilities), English language methodology courses in United Kingdom and Malta (2 mobilities) and job shadowing in preschool implementing effective inclusive education in France (2 mobilities). The impact of the results of implemented project activities is expected to be seen on several levels: individual mobility participant (teacher) level by development of professional skills and competencies as well as widening of intercultural education; level of other staff teachers who do not participate in mobility activities by passing the knowledge and experience gained through mobilities; preschool level in terms of introducing new teaching methods and approaches to different educational aspects, parents’ and children level – new knowledge received through new teaching methods and approaches. The project will contribute to the successful implementation of the internationalisation of PROSUM and promote readiness of preschool to engage in international partnership networks thus developing the sending and host institution capacity in future projects.
