Jaka jesteś Europo?
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Jul 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Project „What you are, Europe?” lasts for 15 months. For the first 3 months we will prepare the necessary stages of the project (workshops and trainings in our kindergarten, setting up a schedule of all activities, validation tests and information brochures). The next 2 months are destined for the project’s mobility (Great Britain). The last 10 months will be spend on teaching activities in our kindergarten. The main aim of the project is to improve the teachers’ language skills, learn new techniques and methodology of working with children, promote the interest in learning English language among children, create attitudes of frankness and tolerance towards other nations and cultures. 14 employees were selected to participate the mobility. Project will be implemented in our whole kindergarten. After returning from mobility there will be a process of collegial training and presentation of activities inside the kindergarten, for the rest of our staff. Teachers that were selected to travel abroad are very communicative people with a strong need to change the world around them and for breaking down internal obstacles. They also are open to the others’ ideas. Simultaneously with the main action of the mobility, there will be the implementation of tasks in our kindergarten. For the period from September to June our children will learn about 10 European Union countries one by one. Each month we will spend one week to “visit” one country. Children will learn greetings and farewells in a foreign language, will learn how to use a globe and a map. We will seek for information, ask questions, learn about new cultures, habits and cuisine. The program will be implemented in the form of fun. There are many opportunities to experience new cultures and many different ways to do so (workshops, singing songs and fun activities in a foreign language). We are also planning the arrival of a foreign guest, learning about traditions, art, famous monuments, as well as testing new flavors, spices and dishes from other countries. Through the various forms of activities, that the children will experience, they will have the opportunity to create intercultural works. They will meet some new traditions, watch folk costumes and learn to spend free time as their foreign friends do. Those activities will move us into the world of a different language and a different way of life. We also want our preschoolers’ parents to join in the preparation of each visit and later – to help us to create the book, that will be a summary of each of the previously known countries. This will give us the conviction that parents are a part of our preschool community. Participating in the Sport Day will help our children to understand the importance of fair play, to cope with difficult situations (such as a lost race) and will give the feeling that everyone has an equal chance. Celebration of The Friendship Day will increase the sense of tolerance and will show, that the color of the skin and different clothes do not matter. The summary of this activity will be The Big Book of Children's Rights, that we will create together. The Book will help us to realize, that children around the world have the same rights and obligations. The Eco-Fashion Show will give our children the knowledge that many products can be reused. It will also help to understand the need to segregate household waste for recycling and the necessity to care for the environment. All the experiences and skills gained during the project will be presented at the District’s Festival. Each group will choose one country and prepare its presentation in the form of interesting standings. Moreover, our preschoolers will perform on stage their favorite song or a folk dance from the country that they learned about during the Project. The employees of the kindergarten would like to make it a well-managed place, that will also be friendly to foreigners and other staff, with a good reputation of professionals who could integrate whole community. The project will bring a new enthusiasm to our work and will prevent the teachers’ burnout. Through the exchange of experience, the level of quality as well as skills of our workers, will be raised. We will improve the communication with parents and children. An additional advantage of the project will simplify the foreign children to adapt to new conditions and environment quickly. Their peers will be able to communicate with them, and teachers will easily help them to solve their identity problems. All competences and skills acquired during this project will be used for a long time, so that our institution is recognized not only in the district but also in the city.
