JA:hr für Europa in der Waldorfschule
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Ahmed Khallaf from Egypt will be hosted by the Freie Waldorfschoole in Leipzig/Saxony from March 2015 on to accompany their work for 12 months. He supports the daily afternoons with a group of 8 to 11 years old kids and, by doing so, more and more organises and carries through own offers in the area of cultural learning. On top of this, he can work together with elder pupils and parents as well to discuss and reflect upon cultural diversity. Together with the school´s staff he develops ideas for the kid´s leisure time and outs them into action using creative and participative methods. Doing so, he gets to know the alternative educational scheme and the self-sustained organisation of a free school in Leipzig. Living together with several other young Europeans he finds support and reflects upon his cultural heritage steadily and deeply in also in his private life. By getting into contact with integrative kids Mr Khallaf enters their perspective on the world and get´s to know individualised educational approaches towards them. The volunteer himself wants to learn new practical abilites, reflect upon an alternative educational concept and check his wishes concerning to work in the paedagogical field. The school gains new impulses for their daily work, knowledge about the arabic region and - by working together with an active Muslim - a perspective on Islam which differs from the pictures of militant islamists that our local German media is full of.
