inVOLving youth
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Jan 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The « inVOLving youth» project aims at allowing disadvantaged young people to go abroad in an environment that is favorable for their personal and social development. The project fosters young people to adopt an active participation, take initiatives, open their mind and it enhances European citizenship. This project will allow 20 young people living in France, Spain, Estonia, Austria, Belgium , Italy and Greece facing difficult social and/or economic situation or with disabilities to get to experience an international workcamp in Europe. Concordia will welcome two volunteers coming from each partner organization on its workcamps and will send two French volunteers on each organization’s workcamp. The EVS will last from two till three weeks, between June 1st and September 31 2016.International workcamps are two to three weeks long, during which volunteers from different countries come together to work on a mission of general interest. The projects are focused on the environment and cultural heritage thematic. Cooperative management is applied on the workcamps: each volunteer is responsible for the smooth running and success of the workcamp. Everyone participate in the decision-making process, group living, and daily tasks. Workcamps therefore allow young people to live a rewarding experience: they become independent, self-confident, they discover a country, develop intercultural relations, learn to respect differences etc. This first investment in a volunteer project should allow young people to broaden their perspective. In the long term, it could generate a commitment to a several months long EVS or to the community life of the sending organization. International workcamps act as tools. They aim at developing the practice of a critical and active citizenship among the youths who participate in them.
