Investing in historical heritage for cultural and historical cohesion and economical progress in Pravets and Nis Municipalities

The project strategy is based on detailed study of historical, cultural and anthropogenic resources and the creation of a database of cultural sites with tourism potential. Under the project will be examined the current situation of cultural and historical sites and target groups will be supported with development of one model for management of cultural site in a sustainable way (including improvement of tourism infrastructure). The project envisages the development of a joint virtual library of studied cultural and historical sites and will implement 3D scanning and hologram imaging. Based on studied resources with the support of subcontractors, partners will develop cultural tourism and offer an integrated tourist product for the two target municipalities. The tourism product will be offered to the public across the border. The project will increase the capacity of local organizations in the tourism sector to be applied model for heritage protection and for its inclusion in tourist destinations. Achievements: Within the project implementation were achieved the following results:The cross-border movement of people, especially experts was increased in two regions - Pravets, Bulgaria and Nis, Republic of Serbia through joint work and organized events like conference and round table. During the round table in Pravets and conference in Nis was increased the awareness of the public for restoration, conservation, socialization of regional cultural-historical heritage as well as reestablishment of local traditions. Project partners developed jointly 1 integrated tourism product divided in 4 themes and including 60 tourism sites The developed integrated cross-border tourism product includes 4 routes - museums and museum exhibitions, archaeological sites, churches and monasteries and traditions and sustainability and 60 tourism sites part of it were popularized through project events - round table, conference and exhibitions as well as promotional materials - DVD, brochure, catalogue. Trough presentations of models, suggestions, ideas for preservation and promotion of cultural heritage during the round table and conference was raised the capacity of representatives of 2 local municipalities – Pravets and Nis.The project was successfully completed in January 2014.
