INVEP IN ACTION
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project is an ERASMUS+ KA1 project in the field of youth. It includes 1 long-term European Voluntary Service activity involving 2 young volunteers from Spain and 2 youth organizations, ASOCIACION JUVENIL INTERCAMBIA, sending and coordinating from Spain and K.A.NE., Social Youth Development, hosting organisation, from Greece. The activity will take place in Kalamata, Greece and will last for 9 months, from September 2016 to June 2017.Our aim through this project is to support young people in developing skills and competences through non-formal and informal learning activities, while at the same time promoting volunteerism and active participation in community activities and fostering a sense of solidarity, social inclusion and equality, creativity and multi-culturalism. At the same time, we wish to contribute to the development of the quality of youth work activities. The volunteers will be engaged in the Youth Centre of Kalamata, coming in direct contact with the local community and having the opportunity to learn new things as well as exchange experiences and ideas with others, following a well-structured programme based on the principles of non-formal education and designed so as to match the interests, needs and competences of the volunteers. The methods that we will use include experiential learning, peer-to-peer, group discussions, workshops, open dialogue, support in taking initiatives and creating activities, etc. Additionally, the volunteers will become themselves ambassadors of volunteerism and active participation, as well as of the ERASMUS+ programme, by organizing informational activities in the Youth Centre of Kalamata, as well as in other places (schools, local events, exhibitions, etc).We hope that this project will have a great impact on all parties involved (volunteers, local community, partner organizations) in terms of learning, exchanging ideas and experiences, networking, and developing skills and competences at personal and professional levels. We also believe that this project can support the improvement of youth work services, as well as the recognition of the importance of Youth Work for the support of young people, and especially young people facing difficulties and coming from disadvantaged backgrounds.
