Balvi District in Latvia and Kelme District in Lithuania encouraged local inhabitants to participate in festivals and green markets organised on traditional national holidays all year around. The project encouraged cooperation between dance groups, choirs and folk music groups, non-governmental organizations and those involved in traditional handicraft by giving them the opportunity to exchange experiences, thereby gaining new experience and contacts. The project has helped local municipalities promote their traditions, values and present their unique identity to a wider public.
