INTERNAZIONALIZZAZIONE DELLA SCUOLA
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This program of European mobility will be organized taking into account the needs of the Comprehensive Institute "Innocenzo IX", one of the few public "verticalised" institutions (since it is a mountain school) including 11 schools of Valli Antigorio and Formazza (Verbania, Piedmont region) from kindergarten to upper secondary school. Supervised by the Headmaster, the plan implies the mobility of 10 people including the Headmaster, teachers (at least one teacher from each school and area of teaching), secretarial and administrative staff. The participants will be selected on the basis of motivation and curricula, assessed by a Commission specifically established within the Institute. First of all, the activities will consist in the preparation of the staff selected: the operation team will attend courses organised by the International Study Programmes in England, an institution with thirty years of experience in organising courses for school personnel. The three courses will include: reducing early school leaving; collegiality across CLIL; school development and quality evaluation & enhancement in primary and secondary schools for Headteachers, teachers, inspectors & other educators. The participants will acquire a range of skills based on training and updating needs shared by the whole staff. In addition, they will answer to specific training needs of the teaching staff of the various types of schools through the exchange and transfer of competences in the international group of participants and the dissemination activities that will be carried out after the courses. The comparison with other educational environments during training activities abroad, will allow the sharing of experiences and skills, especially aimed to: - internationalise teaching and learning methods; - renew and improve the quality of teaching; - broaden the curricular and extracurricular skills of the school staff in a European perspective; - consolidate the language skills; - improve opportunities for professional development and career; - increase motivation and satisfaction in daily work. During meetings the mobility experiences will be shared by all the staff . They will be organised with the involvement of the families of the teachers and students in mobility, as well as local representatives from the institutional and local associations. This way, we expect to increase the willingness of local authorities to develop projects in a European dimension, starting from the concrete possibility of extending the projects of our Institute to local consortia that include civil society organisations committed to priority issues for our school. The project will be a real opportunity for students as they will be trained by a more prepared and motivated staff, with direct effects on the learning motivation of the students who will be placed in a more stimulating intercultural and open environment. The students will be guided in the gain of competences (knowledge, skills, attitudes) in order to improve their personal development and their employability in the European labour market and further. This mobility program is thought to support the professional development of the staff and to increase the awareness and understanding of other cultures. It is an outstanding opportunity to create a network of international contacts, to actively participate in society and to develop a sense of European citizenship and identity. Finally, it is expected to contribute to the innovation of our school system, to become part of a reality that involves school staff going beyond national borders, to open the school to the professional world and culture, to continuously update in contact with foreign colleagues who work in different environments in order to achieve a long-life learning.
