Internationalisierung der Ausbildung von Fachkräften im Gastgewerbe

The majority of the trainees in the hospitality and catering industry at our school are slow learners, most of them with a migratory background. For them German and English is mostly not their native or even second language, which has often caused frustrations as well as learning difficulties. This often has lead to a repulsion towards the target language English. Therefore two of our English teachers should take part in a London course for advanced education for teachers to get to know more motivating teaching as well as learning methods, for example media literacy.The aim is to decrease the learner´s repulsion towards the English language. English should become more acquainted in the learner´s daily routine. It is an obvious part of their future working life in the hospitality and catering industry, as daily contact with international guests is natural. Additionally it will strenghten the learner´s motivation and self-esteem when dealing with strangers.The course participants are going to pass on the acquired knowledge and skills to their language teacher colleagues as well as to interdisciplinary departments (department conferences, general pedagogical trainings, education of interns and teaching trainees).Our goal is to improve future English lessons for example by discussing questions concerning the usage of the native and the target language in lessons as well as meaningful use of teaching concepts and methods and digital media.
