Teacher training for French teacher in France: - Institute: CAVILAM in Vichy - Name of training: “Stages intensifs pour professeurs de français langue étrangère” (Intensive training for teachers of French as a foreign language) Week 1: Towards authentic communication with the help of social media: Web 2.0 (blogs, wikis, forums, platforms) Week 2: Methodology of teaching French: From daily use to innovation - Goals: updating knowledge of country and people (France), picking up new ideas and exchanging concrete and practical ideas for regular teaching and picking up new ideas about class/group management when catering for different needs/levels. Sessions are aimed at innovative teaching through modern means (smartboard, pedagogical websites, etc.) - Set up: Following 31 hours of teacher training about the themes described above, at the institute of CAVILAM - Results: More knowledge of country and people, improved language skills, more pedagogical knowledge, more knowledge about using different ways to differentiate when teaching and when working on internationalisation, more knowledge about useful ways of implementing modern technology. - Long term effect: a department of French teachers where as many people as possible may profit from this knowledge and where the level of teaching may be improved due to this knowledge. Better means of catering to different levels in the French lessons. Possibly serve as example to other departments at other schools. Teacher training for English teacher in Finland: - Institute: Euneos in Helsinki - Name of training: Best Practice Benchmarking - Dates: several dates possible, yet to be determined - Goals: Gaining more knowledge about implementing ICT related didactical improvements, aimed especially at underachieving gifted students. Be inspired and exchange experiences with colleagues in Finland in order to create awareness among colleagues in our own school : how to use new ways of stimulating gifted students without leaving the weaker students behind. - Set up: in this course the school shall determine how to use ICT and how to deal with differences in student ability. Schools that are more experienced in that and that obtain good PISA results (the Finnish schools) will be visited, ‘best practices’ will be shared, also by course participants from different schools. - Results: A better overview of how to use ICT means to stimulate excellence in students in lower years, without neglecting weaker students. - Results and how to communicate these: written report to school board, organise special meeting within English department. Same for outside school. During LEMUN (Model United Nations conference): speak to colleagues from foreign visiting schools. - Long term effect: A good and useful ICT policy that caters to differences in students. Teacher training for two German teachers in Berlin: - Institute: Goethe Institut in Berlin - Name of training: L1.9 Leben in Berlin (Life in Berlin) - Goals: Updating knowledge of country and people. Improving language skills. Developing new teaching materials. - Set up: lectures, visiting important sites, meeting and speaking with experts. Sharing experiences with fellow course participants. - Results: more knowledge about Berlin, improved language skills, interesting teaching materials about Berlin developed. - Communication project results: written report to school board, organise special meeting within German department. Outside school communicate via organisation Levende Talen and communicate during visits of foreign partner schools. - Long term effect: An even more solid basis for the school trip to Berlin. Students are more enthusiastic about German language and culture.
