Internationalisation de l'établissement d'enseignement Lycée Elie Faure
Start date: Oct 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Lycée Elie Faure in Lormont (Gironde, France) is a public establishment of secondary and higher education with 1300 students. International openness is one of its priorities. The lycée has European sections in both English and German. It is twinned with establishments of secondary education in Germany and Italy. The establishment wishes to develop new partnerships and European projects and to increase its teaching in the English language to encompass the greatest number of pupils through specially adapted teaching methods. The 2016 Mobility project involves the teachers who are members of this team:Mr Vicard, a Physics and Chemistry teacher, and Ms Knibbs, an Economics and Management teacher, already teach their subjects in the English language (the European Section in English). They have both passed additional certification in order to teach in the English language. Ms. Christelle Touzet has recently obtained additional certification. Ms. Pascale Maudet, Emmanuelle Hayet, Magali Toy and Patricia Fournier are also planning to take the examination for additional certification. In collaboration with the physics teacher, Ms. Fournier has taken charge of a bilingual class for discovering sciences (French / English). The project concerns training activities in CLIL in the United Kingdom for a two-week period. The teachers have chosen different modules depending on their experience in this area and on the subject which they teach. The impact we expect from this mobility project involves not only the teachers themselves (linguistic and pedagogic skills and motivation), but also the pupils (development of teaching in a foreign language for as many pupils as possible and opening up to other countries). Lastly, the establishment expects to increase its openness on an international level and also develop partnership projects with schools from other countries. It also hopes to improve its image through the dissemination of these projects.
