Internationales Mediencamp - Die jungen Autoren von morgen
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Dec 31, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The youth meeting of the “International Media Camp – Young Authors of Tomorrow” is scheduled to take place from October 26th until November 1st, 2014 at the KiEZ “Am Filzteich” Schneeberg. The duration of the project is set for 5 months (August – December 2014). The organisations involved in the project are the regional associations KiEZ Sachsen (main applicant), the KiEZ “Am Filzteich” Schneeberg (German partner and venue for the project) and the citizens’ association Altus (Czech partner). The project is meant to promote meetings between European adolescents. It provides participants from Germany and the Czech Republic with the opportunity to acquire and test out new knowledge and skills in editing and media design in an extracurricular setting. Participants will be introduced to practical aspects of journalism and basic technology, both under supervision and independently. The main focus of the project will be gaining practical media experience, next to acquitting knowledge about media theory as well as new technical and creative skills. The main goal of the project is to introduce adolescents to the basic aspects of journalistic and technical work in media by means of educational methods. At the same time, participants are encouraged to get involved in the project in a critical, responsible and self-reflective manner. Learning and working together in an international team is meant to improve international experiences and to promote social and personal competences. Furthermore, sharing in a wide rage of activities deepens the understanding of democratic participation and democratic formation. The final product of the project is the creation of a bilingual newspaper by the German and Czech participants of the youth meeting. The subject of “Europe” will be of special interest. Another objective is to subsequently improve the quality of the respective school newspapers and to promote the inclusion of European topics of interest. Target group are adolescents who are interested in pursuing jobs in journalism, media design, the press, and broadcasting. This project is therefore meant to help determine the right career choice and to provide adolescents with a letter of qualification (support for the transition from school to job market). The Youthpass that participants receive at the end of the project as well as a certificate of the participation serve as proof of Qualification.
