Internationale Jugendbegegnung - 25 Jahre Fall des Eisernen Vorhanges
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

2014 is the 25th anniversary of the collapse of the Iron Curtain. The generation born around 1989 hardly feels connected to the events that happened during this year. Therefore, it is of great importance to recall these events as well as the developments of these past 25 years. The fall of the Iron Curtain significantly changed the face of Europe basically overnight and the awakening of a new Europe began. Die participants of this international youth meeting (eurocamp) will focus on two major themes: • The historical year 1989 – The end of the Cold War and the separation of Europe into East and West – and the significance for the European present. • In this anniversary year 2014 – 25 years after the collapse of the Iron Curtain – the adolescents shall be made aware of the chances and benefits of a reunited Europe. The more countries join the European Union the more languages will be present. The young participants should realize through this meeting that different languages are not necessarily a separating factor but can become a bridge between countries and cultures. Multilingualism and minorities shall be perceived as an advantage for the whole country in a united Europe. The young participants from Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia and Austria shall consider these events of the year 1989 extensively, whereby chances, critical questions as well as answers and solution strategies for a united and peaceful Europe will be developed and discussed.
