The Brandenburgische Sportjugend (BSJ; Sports Youth Brandenburg) is an independent working youth organisation in the 'Sports Federastion Brandenburg'. Its members are children and teenagers as well as their youth representatives who are organized in more than 2.500 sporting-clubs. It counts more than 137 thousand members under the age of 27. Therefore it is the largest youth association in the state of Brandenburg. The project foresees to host 1 volunteer from Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in the Organisation´s Department of International Cooperation for a period of 12 months. The project foresees the integration of the volunteer in the Department of International Cooperation by supporting the co-workers in their daily activities. The Department imparts knowledge about planning, organisation, implementation, finance possibilities and evaluation of international activities. Main tasks of the volunteer are to get acquainted with sport structures and EU programs and funding in international youth work; support the planning, preparation and organisation of international projects; look after young people from abroad and international guests; cooperate with the volunteers and young people from sports clubs and federations and to get acquainted with the social projects and the pre-school activities of the organisation. Furthermore the volunteer should have the possibility to develop his/her own project idea. The project is expected to offer the volunteer several non-formal and intercultural learning opportunities, as well as, learning-by-doing experiences. Plenty of skills can be learned in the field of the international project management and social youth work through sport. Project aims to develop the sense of initiative, flexibility/adaptability and coping to new challenges, ability to plan and organize activities to the project, proactive attitude and independent work, leadership abilities and conflict management skills. The project is seen as an opportunity to get valuable experience, to increase volunteer's employment chances in the future, to improve foreign language competencies and receive better awareness about EU policy and values.
