International Summer Workshop 2016: Family matters!?
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

"Tell me with whom you live and I'll tell you who you are!(?)" - Our project aims to strengthen young Europeans' diversity awareness and appreciation towards social diversity. We will invite 45 youngsters between the ages of 17 and 26 from Poland, Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, and Germany, including young refugees and youngsters with fewer opportunities, to our "International Summer Workshop 2016: Family matters!?", a nine-day international youth exchange at wannseeFORUM, Berlin. The theme of family, which is equally a political, social, and cultural topic, will be at the heart of our project. Starting from current family and gender policy debates, the young adults will deal with issues of living together, gender roles, as well as diversity of identities and social life styles in today's European societies. In artistic workshops participants will develop different concepts and representations of what "the family" is, can be, or what it should be, and will transform these into highly original artistic projects, which will be performed and presented to the public at the end of the exchange, both in Berlin and partner countries. Throughout the project participants will gain key skills and confront themselves with social and cultural diversity, which will encourage them to increasingly get involved in local projects and/or political initiatives in their home countries. Hence, they shall contribute to a more respectful and inclusive European society, which is increasingly being influenced by diversity.
