Intercultural Dialog between Finland and Austria

A finnish guest student spent a year at the BG Rein and so a first contact to the Finnish partner school could be built up.The Finnish and Austrian teachers have already held meetings and they have chosen outstanding and interested pupils to take part in the project.Teachers and pupils together have chosen the following project issues: Cultural roots of both countries, traditions and cultural heritage and their impacts on daily life, acceptance of foreign ethnic groups, the educational systems, freetime activities and family life, with special reference to the geographic position of both countries. The communicative basis before and between the meetings is the eTwinning platform with twinspace giving us a chance to work in a virtual classroom. The pupils write a weekly electronic diary and communicate by skype, e-mail,and video-Conference.During their stays at the partnerschools in Finland or Austria the pupils have to do fieldwork (interviews films etc.), work together in workshops and present their countries subjectively. The results of the student´s work are then shown in public to a wider audience by a written and oral presentation. The pupils stay with host families and take part in the cultural life. The results of the project work will be part of the lessons at their homeschools and will also be presented to the school communities and the local media. The project will be organised in two groups with 11 pupils each. Each group will be documented and evaluated independently. They will work for one year. After every activity reports will be made.At the end of the working process the results of both groups will be compared. After a year of work there will be team and feedback meetings of the Finnish and Austrian teachers.
