INterAct
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

We are a public primary school in the rural area of eastern Croatia. Our project is driven by desire to equip our learners with knowledge and skills for their future life, not only for their future education and workplace, but also for their personal growth, wellbeing and active participation in society. Our staff is acquainted with the need for changing the paradigm in education but we don’t have necessary knowledge and skills to direct our teaching towards acquisition of key competences and 21st century skills. We developed this project to train our staff in facilitating and managing interdisciplinary, cross-subject teaching and planning in order to develop interactive activities and organize learning environments across different school subjects, thus creating a more meaningful, relevant, well rounded and engaging units for our learners. We are planning to send our staff to the courses on “Problem Based Learning / Inquiry Based Learning” in the UK and “How to make your school more digital” in Spain, "How to make your school more international" in Portugal and "Teaching Foreign Languages Through Drama" in the UK as well as on Job Shadowing in our partner school in Greece. All teaching and management staff of our school is taking part in this project and the participants in the mobilities will be chosen from the teachers from different departments working with all age groups and across different school subjects in our school as well as members of the school board and the school's team for quality assurance including the headmaster and the European projects coordinator. We will organize regular quarterly meetings of our staff to streamline new innovative elements into our everyday practice and collaborate on development, implementation, reflection and evaluation of interdisciplinary, cross-subject units for our students. We expect our staff to be able to offer more relevant and collaborative approach to teaching and organizing interactive learning environments which will, we believe reflect positively on the attainment and achievements of our learners. Our staff will be able to facilitate and manage interdisciplinary, cross subject teaching and planning and will be ready to engage in continuous teamwork and innovation. We will be able to link the ways of teaching key competences and 21st century skills to our existing practice and make the process of education more interactive and relevant to our students primarily by use of technology enhanced learning, inquiry based learning, problem based learning, educational theatre and drama and international collaboration projects. We will be able to use the advantages of technology assisted learning and improve our capacity to design and manage international partnership projects. By the end of this project we expect to have at least 8 units based in new innovative interactive elements and at least one high quality format of students oriented international collaboration project designed, but we hope this project is only going to be a start for gradually introducing more and more interactive and international activities into our school policy plan and curriculum since our staff will have the competences and the contacts with other professionals in Europe and beyond.
