It is essential for language teachers at a secondary school in a region lagging behind in language development to keep on learning and keep their own command of language up to standard. Six language teachers at CSG Dingstede are planning to follow an intensive course in the period of 1 October 2015 to 1 October 2016 to be well able to implement new and current teaching formats in their regular classes and also Cambridge, DELF and Goethe classes. Besides, they will brush up their command of languages again and take it to a higher level.
During the course the teachers will be handed current teaching formats which the teachers can use in their classes. For that end, there will be attention for fluency, writing skills, reading proficiency and listening comprehension, grammar and culture in order to provide the teachers with further training in all fields.
After the course the teachers will apply their acquired knowledge in their classes. The teachers will be more fluent in English, French and German with students and by way of this the students taking part in the language plus programmes Cambridge, DELF and Goethe will be better facilitated.
By feeding the students better, due to enlarged communicative skills gained during the intensive language course, all the students will in all probability end up at a higher level in the exam year. Every child is unique and therefore one of the most important spearheads of the school is to have an eye for differentiating. That's why the intensive language course enables our teachers to introduce current teaching formats with zest and success.
Teachers who are well informed about the latest developments of a language and the culture of the concerning country / countries, contribute greatly at a school, short-term as well as long-term. Furthermore, this is definitely the case in a region lagging behind in language development. These teachers will be capable of enabling the students to master the language in a good pedagogical and didactic way and to teach them to use this productively. That's why the language course is an important and good way to keep the pedagogical and professional subject knowledge up to standard.
