Information and communication technologies (ICT) are the modern challenge for education and an essential element of the modern school. They open up new possibilities for improving the educational process at school. ICT introduction in schools optimizes the learning process and increases its effectiveness. In order to respond to these ongoing requirements Hristo Smirnenski Primary School makes its priority the improving of professional training, competences and qualifications of teachers in the using modern ICT. The objectives of this project are:- Improving the quality of teaching through the integration of modern ICT in all school subjects- Learning the new European trends in education and improving teachers' pedagogical skills through training in innovative and effective teaching techniques- Raising the prestige of the school in the European Union and its establishment as an institution providing qualitative European educationТeachers at Hristo Smirnenski Primary School are motivated and willing to develop themselves. They use modern methods of teaching. They are experienced in national and international projects (Comenius, eTwinning). They strive to upgrade their skills and they have already attended the trainings organized by European training providers in the UK. They have computer skills at different levels and they are ready to face the challenges of modern technologies. According to the previously identified needs the school provides trainings for five teachers in different subjects in school.Five teachers' mobilities are provided for participating in structured training courses in the following topics:- Teaching Enhanced Learning in Malta- One week course for European teachers of Art and Design in the UKAll the selected courses offer opportunities for teachers to improve their skills in technology; to learn about new practical experimental methods for the integration of ICT; to create lessons and activities integrating ICT etc.In the implementation of the project the following methods and approaches will be used:-observation of classroom activities of teachers in different subjects by the headmaster; analysis of currently applied practices of teaching and the efficiency of applying ICT in the learning process; exploring new teaching methods which include the integration of ICT in classroom activities home and abroad; comparing different teaching methods;analyzing opportunities to adapt innovative ICT in school; choosing systems, methods and practice of teaching using ICT, suitable for the school; survey of training providers offering innovative approaches; selection of training institutions and making contact with them; appointing people from the staff, responsible to select teachers who apply for training courses; approving rules for selection of teachers applying for training abroad ; agreements with the selected teachers about their rights and duties before, during and after training; dissemination of new methods and approaches in using ICT among teachers in the school, the municipality and the region; assessment the impact of applying the new teaching methods on teachers and students.Teachers are expected:- to receive training in recognized international training organisations; to gain knowledge about new opportunities for the integration of ICT in teaching and to improve their practical skills to work with multimedia products, applications and programs and to integrate the knowledge to their practice; to create lessons and materials, using the possibilities of ICT; to learn about new approaches integrating ICT; to create their own virtual spaces, to train other teachers in ICT.This project also enable teachers to acquire skills for teaching according to the European standards in education; to increase their self-confidence as citizens of Europe; to see the new theoretical and practical tendencies in the development of target language; to improve their language skills; to develop their intercultural competence; to raise the prestige of the school in Europe; to establish new contacts with teachers from European schools and find new opportunities for partnership with them; to bring new ideas and suggestions for the future development of Hristo Smirnenski Primary School. The school is expected as an institution to raise its reputation in the European Union and to continue working on joint projects with other European schools.In long term the project will raise the reputation of the school as an institution offering qualitative teaching according to the European standards in education, with teachers who teach in new European approaches. Teachers will gain knowledge and skills which help them to manage the modern English classroom. As a result, students will gain more sustained and higher quality knowledge to enable them to develop and have success in a multicultural environment in the EU.
