Integration of Workplace Learning in Vocational Teacher Education - How to be a teacher in vocational training - IWOLTE

As described in the Lisbon Strategy, it is necessary to continue education throughout life because of the global competitiveness and the rapid technical development. The project idea is to foster a close cooperation with learners and their future working environment and profession with the aim of vitalising processes of economic growth in working life. The project aims to renew and increase recruitment to vocational and pedagogic teacher education by dialogue and cooperation between trade and industry, educational establishments and future supervisors and vocational teachers. The latter two are the target group of the project. In order to achieve the aim the project will describe and analyse the professionals' competence and processes in the job and convert that into a content and shape in pedagogic education, to develop flexible educational programs and courses, to create a continuous dialogue between the different educational levels, and to raise the competence of active supervisors and vocational teachers.
