Integration of asylum seekers to local community
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Nov 1, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The organisation has gotten an idea and motivation for project during 2013. because of large rise in number of asylum seekers in Kutina which increased animosity between local comunity and asylum seekers. Due to lack of information the citizens of Kutina viewed the asylum seekers as socio-cultural, economic, health or security threat. General objective of the project is to raise awareness of young active citizens about the necessity of integration of asylum seekers into society with emphasis on social cohesion. Some of the specific objectives include exploring the diversity of young people through the exchange of cultures, languages, ways of thinking and acting with intercultural dialogue, development of skills through non-formal and informal learning and promotion of tolerance and solidarity among youth by increasing the possibilities of mobile learning and sharing. The selected partner organisations are coming from Turkey, Romania and Spain. Each of the partner organizations will participate in the project with four members aged between 20 and 30 years, not including the head of organization. The project will also include asylum seekers from the Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers in Kutina. The main activities of the project will be lectures, workshops, production of short documentary film and joint activities of participants and asylum seekers. Among other things, the participants will partake in the debate "How to protect vulnerable social groups", visit the Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers in Kutina and interview the citizens of Kutina as part of making a documentary film. After project completion and upon returning to their home countries, all participants of the project wil answer a short jointly composed questionnaire by partner organisations. Since the project is focused on acheiving better connetivity between local people and asylum-seekers located in the town of Kutina, we believe this questionnaire will be the best indicator of the impact of this project on entire population of Kutina including all persons located in Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers in Kutina. We believe that specified activites will distinguish animosity and intolerance directed towards asylum seekers. We hope the results of the project will be presented to students in all schools in Kutina and will thus contribute to easier integration of future asylum seekers in local population and vice versa.
