The concept of sustainable development is still little known in the enterprises of the Atlantic Area. However, a sustainable management of their economic activities would help them to strengthen their competitiveness considerably. In this connection, the QUALITY SME project is intended to detect the environmental impacts of the activities of SMEs and address these by creating services and management tools in the domains of quality, the environment and the prevention of risks at work. The project also foresees an adjustment to the policies of management of the territory, which will then be put into practice by means of joint strategies. The project will thus contribute to promoting co-operation and exchanges of experience among SMEs, and in the longer term to improving the competitiveness of the Atlantic Area.
