Integrated Development and Implementation of the New Waste Water Treatment Facilities for the Reduction Pollution of the Baltic Sea (ILPR.01.01.01-96-011/10-00)

The overall objective of the project is to contribute towards protection and improvement of environment in the cross-border area through sustainable development of the coastal region and reduction of eutrophication in Kaliningrad Gulf/Vistula Lagoon and Bay of Gdansk coastal waters. Achievements: 1. The new local waste water treatment plant (WWTP), with capacity of 4320 m3 per day is built.2. Municipal wastewater is treated, discharge of untreated wastewater to the Vistula lagoon is stopped.3. Coastal water quality is improved, eutrophication is reduced.4. Economic activity is increased due to the new operating wastewater treatment facility.5. Report on efficient wastewater management is developed.6. Residents of partner cities on both sides of the border are aware on benefits of cooperation in implementation of new facilities.7. Staff of the waste water treatment plant is trained and prepared for operation of the modern plant.8. Cooperation between two municipalities is enhanced.
