Insularité et éducation en Europe
Start date: Jun 1, 2015,
End date: May 31, 2016
For our secondary school which is located on a small island, it’s an opportunity to make the team complement skills both in written and spoken English In the medium term, our aim is the creation of teachings in “DNL” (sciences, documentation or history and geography) in English. We would like the partnerschifts developpement with others European schools on the topic of the insularity in Europe. We want to improve our research about what is the specificity of teaching in an island context and to enrich our educational approaches about how to solve school difficulties and lack of motivation of the pupils.
Next, we can be able to take up a KA2 project with for objectives to encourage the mobility of our pupils and their openings towards the outside world. In L’Ile-D'Yeu, these objectives are raising particular stakes in order to break of the island isolation but also to prepare the professional future of our pupils : the island is very touristic now on one hand ; on the other hand, a project of offshore wind farm will offer jobs to technicians having skills in English and ready to be mobile.
The project will be managed every year by a group from 3 to 4 teachers under the coordination of the headmaster.
We intend one or two teachers to obtain the certification in “DNL” in English. We expect to create school partnerships in Europe in order to be able to offer mobilities for our pupils.
